Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong Tea (Lapsang Souchong, 正山小种),  is a black tea, called xiaozhong tea with artificial small races. The first production area is Paulownia area in Chong’an County in Fujian Province (1989 Chong’an withdrawal County set up the city, changed its name to Wuyishan City). It is the earliest black tea in the world, also known as the originator of black tea. It has a history of more than 400 years. It was created by local tea farmers in the depths of Wuyishan in Fujian in the middle and late Ming period. Later, on the basis of the Katsumoto Kobayashi, Kofu Black Tea was developed. The history of the tea to the distribution center for the Star Village, it is also known as the Star Villagexiaozhong. After the Opium War, the invasion of imperialism, the intense competition in the tea market is in both at home and abroad, and the dispute between orthodox camellia and camellia came forth. Tea is made of pine needles or pine smoked, with a very strong flavor. For smoked reasons, the tea is dark gray but the tea is dark amber. The true Lapsang Souchong has fat shape with color black, water is dark red after soaking, aroma with a long ribbon of loose incense, mellow taste, with longan flavor, add milk tea flavor diminished, the formation of syrup Tea, liquid color is more brilliant. The finished tea shape is tight and smooth, with a green iron color, more oil, natural floral, the fragrant is not strong, fine and subtle,  mellow taste, throat rhyme is obvious, soup color is clear yellow.

Lapsang Souchong is classified by tobacco and non-tobacco species, if it is used pine needles or pine fire smoked in the production process  as the basis for the distinction: The tea which used pine needles or pine smoked is called “Smoke Lapsang Souchong”; no use Pine needles or pine fire smoked, then called “non-smoke Lapsang Souchong.”
